Bikes
I was up in Tahoe a couple weeks ago and we rented Mountain bikes and rode the Powerline Trail. It's been years since I did any single track riding and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm full on back into biking now.
I got home and immediately took my old Marin- Palisades Trail in to the shop for a tune up and new tubes. I've been out in the park the past few days and it's great. The bike is the same one Chris B. and I went up to Madison to buy. It's still a champ although the bike I rented in Tahoe really has me itching for full suspension. It was a Jamis - Dakar - I'm not sure if it was this exact model but close enough. It was a great bike and now I want one.
Any bike suggestions?

This is some sort of kizmet because I did 20 miles (flat terrain) over the weekend. I have also been looking for a new bike. The shocks were shot on my old bike, so I figured I'd replace them, then needed a new frame, then replaced a bunch of other parts and ended up with a whole new bike. It's okay but too tall. I've had my eyes on this thing: Kona Hoss. I love the idea of a bike built for a husky rider. :) They have the Dawgma for you - full suspension. Lots of other ones, too. Also, you might consider a "29er" if you're doing lots of off-roading - 29-inch rims make the ride a little smoother.
Don't give up the Marin! If it still works, some updates (tires, brakes, cables) will keep it good for most urban riding. Full suspension is less fun on the road.
Oh, I like Felt Bikes, too. And Jamis makes a pretty damn affordable bike, too. You already know how they feel...
the Marin is definately staying around. i need some new front shocks but other than that it's solid.
the kona's look sweet and i saw some felts at the shop the other day.
this is really a next-year type of purchase. i'm going to rent a few different models here and there to get a feel for what i want. there's a couple mountains in tahoe that open lifts during the summer for biking. ride up the lift with your bike, bomb downhill - all the fun and no climbing!
